Did Scam 1992 star Pratik Gandhi make a cameo in Hansal Mehta's Scoop? Here's what the director has to say

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s recently released drama series Scoop has been creating a lot of buzz ever since it was released on Netflix. The show, which is based on the book ‘Behind Bars In Byculla: My Days In Prison’ by Jigna Vora, features Karishma Tanna in the lead. Interestingly, a few viewers have pointed out the blink-and-miss cameo of Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story star Pratik Gandhi on the show.

In the last episode of the show, Pratik could be seen in the scene where crime journalist Jagruti(Karishma)’s mama is handing out pamphlets. Pratik appears in a pink-coloured shirt for a few minutes. Talking about the surprise cameo, Hansal told Bollywood Hungama, “We were shooting in Kandivali at a location that is Jagruti’s mama’s (Deven Bhojani) shop. I called Pratik who lives in the lane behind to drop by. He came cycling to the location. We chatted. Out of the blue, I asked him if he’d do a small passing shot. He agreed without blinking an eyelid. Up to the audience to find him!”

Hansal and Pratik collaborated on Scam 1992, which turned out to be a huge success, and made Pratik a household name. Based on the life of the controversial stock broker, the series was released in October 2020. It also stars Shreya Dhanwanthary, Anjali Barot, Satish Kaushik, and Nikhil Dwivedi among others.

Coming back to Scoop, the show features Harman Baweja, who returned to the screen after a long sabbatical. Co-created by Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul and Hansal, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Sanat Vyas, Deven Bhojani, and Vishal Thakkar are also part of the show. The show revolves around a Mumbai-based crime journalist whose life turns upside down after she is arrested on false charges of murdering a rival journalist. The show began streaming on Netflix on June 2, 2023.
