Actor Plabita Borthakur is gearing up for her upcoming thriller series, Escaype Live. The series will feature her in a never seen avatar of a Fetish Girl. The actress revealed that preparing for the character was emotionally challenging as she had to get rid of a mental block to be comfortable in her own skin.

In an exclusive chat with Varsha Agarwal of Desimartini, Borthakur opened up about how difficult to pull off her character in the upcoming series. She said, “It has been the most challenging character out of all roles that I have played to date. It was not just my emotions to play with, I had to do a lot more with my body. Hence, I was on a diet for the longest time. I had to work on my body language for which I had taken dance classes.”

“Most importantly, what I needed to work on was emotionally getting very comfortable in my own skin which you know as a woman in our country is not easy. I am going to do these scenes which hundreds of people going to watch and make short videos out of it. So, that was a huge mental block that I really had to push away to be able to do it in comfort,” she added.

The Lipstick Under My Burkha actress also revealed her first reaction when the role was first offered to her. “I was not sure why I was cast and also I was like if I can pull it off because this is not me. I have never done something like this. Thankfully, the makers believed in me more than I did. So, I was very happy. When I got the script, then I realised that this is not going to be easy because it is a fetish girl that has a lot to do and I really need to be comfortable in my own skin.” she said.

Written by Jaya Mishra and Siddharth Kumar Tewary, the nine-episode series follows the lives of six users, associated with a video-streaming social media app called Escaype Live, who cross every boundary and limit in a bid to win a grand prize of ₹3 crores announced by the app’s makers. The series also features Jaaved Jaaferi, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Siddharth, Swastika Mukherjee, Waluscha D Souza, Ritvik Sahore, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, Jagjeet Sandhu, Rohit Chandel, and Aadyaa Sharma in pivotal roles.

Escaype Live is set to stream on Disney+Hotstar from May 20.
