The Witcher season 3: Netflix reveals plot details and a new BTS picture as the new season enters production

The new BTS picture from The Witcher season 3 shows Gerald, Yennifer, and Ciri in a snowy mountainscape. So, it is safe to assume that the third season will see them together as they try and find out more about Ciri's powers as was hinted in the last season.

The Witcher is one of Netflix 's most successful and popular shows since Stranger Things and the streaming giant has already had to spinoff the animated movie Nightmare of the Wolf and a prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin which is currently in production.

Along with these currently, there are plans for a new animated movie as well as an animated series that will be more family-friendly.

The official synopsis of season three reads -

As monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.”

The show currently has over one billion views between the first two seasons, a record only broken by Squid Game and Bridgeton but that could change when the new season arrives.

The Witcher 3 is based on the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski and follows Geralt of Rivia and Princess Ciri, who are linked to each other by destiny.

The show is created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and stars Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, Eamon Farren, Joey Batey, MyAnna Buring, Royce Pierreson, Mimî M. Khayisa, and Wilson Mbomio.

The third season is set to release in the latter half of 2022.
