Exclusive- Nakuul Mehta on Ishqbaaaz reboot: ‘I would be the first one to sign up for it’

Nakuul Mehta began his journey on television as an actor in 2012. But it was four years later that he got his breakthrough with Ishqbaaaz. Starring an ensemble cast of actors such as Surbhi Chandna , Kunal Jaisingh, Shrenu Parikh, Leenesh Mattoo and Mansi Srivastava, the romantic drama gave fans an interesting concept along with loveable characters. Nakuul won hearts, as well as various awards, with his brilliant performance as Shivaay Singh Oberoi . Sadly, after a successful run of three long years, the show went off air breaking many hearts.

Well, we at Desimartini caught up with Nakuul recently for an exclusive interview. During the chat, we asked him if he would ever be interested in being a part of Ishqbaaaz’s reboot version. To this he enthusiastically replied, “100%! It wouldn’t happen without me! I think, I probably am the most excited person of the entire cast. In fact, couple of days back I was messaging the producer Gul (Khan) that today was the first day we shot for Ishqbaaaz, it’s been 6 years to that day and I ended up putting a story and then we did a live and there were some seven, eight thousand fans who just came out of nowhere.”

He continued to add, “I think that show has given me so much love, it has given me so much respect in the industry and given me the opportunity of now all these choices. I think Never Kiss (Your Best Friend) wouldn’t have happened if there was no Ishqbaaaz. And Shivaay Singh (Oberoi) is still the role which is closest to me. I would be the first one to sign up for it, and if they were considering otherwise I would stand up for it and say ‘No, I’ll do it’.”

Well, we truly hope to see the reboot of Ishqbaaaz someday. Meanwhile, Nakuul is busy winning over the audience as Ram Kapoor in Ekta Kapoor’s show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 . Currently, he is also gearing up for the release of the second season of his web series Never Kiss Your Best Friend.
