Suniel Shetty met KL Rahul at an airport for the first time, had no idea that his daughter Athiya and there cricketer were dating

Suniel Shetty couldn’t be happier about the wedding of his Athiya Shetty to cricketer KL Rahul recently and revealed all about his first meeting with his now son-in-law. The Hera Pheri 3 actor has revealed on The Kapil Sharma Show that he didn’t know at the time of his first encounter with KL Rahul that his daughter Athiya was seeing him.

The Bollywood actor shared how he had a chance encounter with KL Rahul in 2019 at an airport where they struck up a conversation which made him happy to learn that like him the cricketer too hailed from Mangalore. Suniel further revealed that when he brought up KL Rahul’s name at home his daughter Athiya and wife Mana exchanged looks.

The Hera Pheri 3 actor then learnt from his wife that Athiya and KL Rahul had been talking and he was very happy to learn this as he always encouraged his daughter to meet South Indian boys. “I had the pleasure of meeting Rahul first at an airport. I was thrilled to learn that he was from Mangalore, my hometown. I was a big fan of him, and was happy to see that he was doing well. When I came home and shared the news with Athiya and Mana, they didn’t say much; they just exchanged looks with each other. Later, Mana came to me and said that Athiya and Rahul [were on] talking terms,”Suniel said on Kapil Sharma’s show.

Revealing what his reaction was like Suniel stated, “I was surprised that Athiya had not mentioned it to me. [At the same time], I was happy as I always told Athiya to connect with south Indian boys.” The actor further proudly shared that his now son-in-law’s home in Mangalore is very close to where he was born and brought up.

Kl Rahul and Athiya Shetty tied the knot in January 23 at Suniel Shetty’s Khandala guest house. The couple always kept matters of their relationship private and also tied the knot in an intimate ceremony attended by only close friends and family members
