The Diamond League is scheduled to start in Doha on May 10 and Neeraj Chopra, the gold medallist from the Tokyo Olympics, and Kishore Jena, the silver medallist from the Asian Games, will represent India in the 10-man javelin field event. This will be a perfect start, keeping the upcoming Paris Olympics in mind.

Olympic silver medalists Julius Yego and Jakub Vadlejch, as well as former world champion Anderson Peters, will be fierce rivals. Johannes Vetter of Germany, meanwhile, will not be attending the event since he has been fighting ailments for the past three years. Furthermore, Max Dehning, who made history earlier this year by being the youngest man to throw 90 meters, has decided not to compete in Doha.

Neeraj Chopra, who won the Doha Diamond League the previous year, is hoping to compete again for the first time since winning gold at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. The Diamond League finalist, who won the gold medal in the Olympics, is keen to get off to a strong start and set the standard early in the Olympic year.

As for Kishore Jena, he aims to build upon his success from 2023 and position himself strongly in the Olympic year. The 28-year-old Indian showcased his talent in the Asian Games last year, achieving a personal best throw of 87.54m, which secured him a silver medal.
