Rajkumar Santoshi has come out of his shell to try out a different cinema, and is surely highly successful in that. With Ajab Prem ki Gajab Kahani, he defines how a small budget movie can come out so beautifully. He has broken the myth associated with the relation of a successful romantic film to star-power. And also, the film brings out one of the best on-screen chemistry between Ranbhir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

Prem, played by Ranbhir Kapoor, is president of Happy Club, which is about spreading joy, happiness, and love around. They (members of happy club, currently Ranbhir and his friends) help people in getting their love, brings happiness and removing trouble from their life. He is helping out one of the guys to find his love. While kidnapping the love interest of guy, Prem mistakes Jenny (Katrina Kaif) for her. Eventually, Prem fells for Jenny.

Fights, arguments, misunderstandings and they turn friends. Before Prem can tell about his love to her, she tells about her love for Rahul (Upen Patel). Now Prem goes out to get Jenny her love. Family oppositions, fight, underworld, the film has it all. Will Prem be sucessful in getting together Jenny with Rahul.

Ranbhir Kapoor, has bring out a wonderful performance. He is truely the reply to all the Khans, and can take the throne very soon. He looks good, dances good, works hard, and above all is naturally talented. Katrina, for that matters doesn't disappoint.
The chemistry is superb. Both make a wonderful pair on screen and they look great when they stammer in the movie (their characters stammer when they get emotional). You will surely ask for this jodi more.

The film brings out a very happy feeling when you come out of theatre. The honesty with which Raj has directed the movie shows up. The sets are exquisitive & exotic. You feel its a foreign location handled in local manner. But the movie is actually shot in India only, Ooty.

Some say, music carries the film. The music of the film is so good, soothing, romantic, cool that even if the script, performances and direction had been bad, the film must have been successful. 'Tera Hone Lagaa Hoon', ' Tu Jaane Na' by Atif Aslams are not chartbusters they are yearbusters, you will keep hearing them without getting bored.

Raj has given a welcome break to extravagant romantic movies by Khans for this sweet, simple romantic story. And truely Ranbhir ki naiiyaa bhi paar laagaa di.

Its fun, romantic, performance driven, musical, what more to ask for. Go, watch it and have fun.

Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani is a totally mindless film that is meant purely for time pass with a bag of popcorn. Ranbirs many avatars are thoroughly entertaining. He perfectly brings out the rawness of an uneducated person as well as the sophistication of a gentleman all to impress and win the heart of his lady love played by the cute Katrina Kaif.


Prem (Ranbir Kapoor) and his gang of good-for-nothing friends own the Happy Club where they try to solve their love problems or simply do nothing. One of such cases aids Prem to meet the beautiful Jenny (Katrina Kaif). Thus begins the story of Prem trying to win over her heart even though she already has a fianc Rahul(Upen Patel).


Pritams music is good and catchy. A good job by the cast and crew to pull off this Lazy and sweet romantic comedy. This movie will surely make you laugh out loud if you do not try to reason too much with it. Overall, a good one time watch!

AJAB RANBIR KI GAZAB KATRINA..KAHANI DEEPIKA AUR SALMAN KI ZUBANA!!!

For all those cine buffs who've been keeping track of Rajkumar Santoshi since his Meenakshi "Iceberg"Sheshadri Ghayal days it would truly be hard to believe that Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani has been made by the same person who made a classic like Andaz Apna Apna with Salman & Aamir(or is it the other way round..Which Khan got Higger billing) that still rocks even today.

Agreed all films cannot be gems nor of the same caliber but this one is indeed a real comedown and if Aab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani is going to be remembered it shall be for all the wrong reasons.

Reason Number 1 it shall be remembered for Katrina Kaif having elbowed out Deepika Padukone tattoo and all from Ranbir Kapoor's life making Neetu Singh's predictation that she was nothing special but just another girlfriend of R.K. come true.

Reason Number 2. While Salman Khan fretted over Katrina's closeness with Akshay Kumar (on-screen) she played a different ball game in the shadows with Ranbir exactly like Aishwariya Rai did with Vivek Oberoi right under his nose.

The writing is there on the wall in cinema scope.When Aishwariya dumped him he took solace in her look alike(remember Lucky-No Time For Love) Sneha Ullal & Now He Is Promoting Zarine Khan (in Veer) who you know is who's look alike..obviously Katrina Kaif's.

Reason Number 3. Tips & Rajkumar Santoshi smelt a premature romance in the bud & decided to encash it so that it blossomed with their film and so they rushed into production with no trace of a script to peg the film onto.

Reason No.4. Even the stammering & stuttering idea of the lead pair that was expected to be a unique USP of the film was stolen by Shahid Kapoor in Kaminey and all said and done he did a far better job that both Ranbir & Kaif put together.

So what's Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani all about anyone? Nothing much if you ask me. A Group of unemployed guys in the neighbourhood locality run a Happy Club and it's membership is their paycheck. Katrina steps into the neighbourhood and brews several storms simultaneously that evokes a few meek laughs in the situational comedy that is rather plastic than natural.

So if the heroine stammers when upset the hero also stutters in the same situation and if the heroine is a non-veg hating Christian belle the Brahmin boy a pure veggie turns NG to impress her.If you find that kind of comedy cute then the film could well be up your alley.

The Only Gem for Which Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani shall always be fondly remembered is Katrina Kaif excitedly screaming "Salluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" to Salman Khan in a fleeting special appearance. Apparently only Katrina Kaif cud take that liberty with Veer Khan (on-screen).Am Sure Aishwariya Rai Bachchan must have been rolling with laughter when she saw this scene on screen or where ever she chose to see this film...Truy fit for Archana Puran Singh's defunct t.v. serial "Wah Kya Scene Hai"!!!

That apart Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani has some real soft romantic soothing and even heart tugging music but then you don't need to see the ,movie to relish the videos just as you don't need to buy a pig whenever you want to have some pork!!!
