Anyone ever thought that Mr. Bachchan will still be on a roll even after crossing 60? OR you ever thought that you will see 'Our Angry Young Man' kicking some ass even will full pride and honour? Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap is an answer to all the people who think that Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has grown old as he still has the fuel to put the screen on fire with his explosive action sequences, killer one-liners, some groovy moves and off-course his cool voice.

Director, Puri Jagannath has made such a simple movie but with lot of charisma. His sense of bringing back some old school worked wonders and casting Mr. Bachchan was the icing on the cake. Vishal and Shekhar once again used their magic wand and gave Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap some funky tracks. The entire ensemble cast did great job and honestly everyone got enough dialogues to make audience feel their presence. Rishi Virmani and Vipul Binjola penned down some amazing dialogues, which got justice by being delivered by Mr. Bachchan.

Though the story is not ground-breaking but the moments, effects, music and off course our Star Mr. Bacchan are more than enough reasons to Go and Watch this one for sure. It's a movie made by a fan for all the fans of Big B.

Mr. Bachchan seems to grow younger with age! His poise, attitude, subtlety and grace are just mind-blowing. Movie will keep you engaged through out and frankly in the end you will ask for more.
Footer: Its NOT only homage to Mr. Bachchan, he really deserves a BOW! He always did it and once again with this one he proved that he still is "The King Of the Ring".

A few days back I was watching Coolie on television and I was trying to figure out if that film still works for me. Except a few scenes here & there the film still holds and entertains. While watching Bbudahh I felt that I can live with that angry young man in place of this wannabe tribute to it.

Viju (tribute to Agneepath and various Amitabhs film where he was named Vijay) is a gangster back in Mumbai after being in Paris for a long time. One important job has bought him back. So in the film in the course of doing that job he also makes two hearts ( Sonu Sood & Sonal Chauhan) meet, re ignites with an old flame Kammo ( Raveena Tandon) , every time I hear her name in the film mera dil le gayi o kammo kidhar starts playing in my head, He also spend precious minutes talking to a girl who is Raveenas daughter in the film at a coffee shop ( now I know why top in town in Oshiwara was shut down for a while) ,he makes amends with his wife and also does thoda action and thoda Jackson as he had promised.

The director wanted to present Amitabh Bachchan as an angry young man again and must have hurriedly written a story around the action sequences and the dance numbers because besides the tribute the film is completely haphazard with sudden shift in tracks & scenes. It looks more of a compilation . The tributes are in plenty like in place of Mukhri standing on a stool ( Amar Akbar Anthony) there is woman doing that here. There is Raveena Tandon over acting to the hilt because character ki demand thi but it feels like she has walked out of from a Govindas film set. Her screaming and acting like a 20 year old makes the girl playing her daughter look like a better actor. The best part of the film is the climax. Prakash Raj makes the climax a laugh out loud fest with his awesome dialogue delivery. If you loved him in Wanted you will like him here. He is in the same space. The only way you could survive this uncool film is because Big B makes everything look cool around him. Every time he is on screen its a paisa vasool moment. It is a film made for him and should be watched only for him.

Final few words: Bbudahh hoga tera baap is best enjoyed with people who whistle, clap, scream, shout every time Big B is on screen and who also happens to be his fan.

The problem with this film is that it does not know whether it wants to tell a straightforward story, or is a parody/spoof/pastiche of an ageing superstars old films or a tribute to the prowess of the said superstar. It would have made for a better viewing experience if it had decided its purpose from the start. The one thing that is obvious is that it has been made by a man who adulates Amitabh and sees him unchanged from his Vijay days much like a mother who still calls her paunchy 50 year old son Babloo and gives him chocolate milk for breakfast.

The story revolves around Viju ( a hep version of Vijay) an ex gangster who now runs a pub in Paris. He comes back to Mumbai and decides to take on the fearless ACP who is out to eliminate the gangs of Mumbai. The gangs obviously want the ACP dead and Viju gets into the gang with his sharp shooting skills. Then the twists and turns ensue that make Viju dance, sing, beat up the baddies, shoot them and mouth dialogues that made people throw money on screen. In short, showcase Amitabh as Amitabh. There are also sub plots of a romance between the ACP and a girl, another one about an ex flame and her daughter and a reprisal of the tender Baaghban romance with his legit screen wife Hema.

The story had great promise in itself as well as an opportunity for Amitabh to play a superb role as an ageing gangster with his ego, bravado and skills intact but burnished with the patina of age, experience and regret. Amitabh could have done justice to a complex character like that easily. Instead, he dresses up in outlandish clothes (flowery shirts and loony sunglasses) and teeters between a sane person and a spoof of himself. His true colours shine through only when the idiotic sunglasses are off and you can see his tired eyes twinkle with amusement when talking to the young girls, blaze angrily at the gangsters or shine with unshed tears and love when talking to his lost love. But these sunglass- less scenes are few and far between much to our regret.

Sonu Sood as the ACP does a good job of the action sequences and even does a convincing act while trying to romance Miss Wooden Face . Her friend is quite cute though I dont know what Raveena Tandon was thinking when she decided to act like a manic love crazed teenager.

The songs are all sung by Amitabh (how much adulation can a person offer and another one take, I wonder?). The songs are ok expcept for Hal e- dil which is hvery haunting and will stay with you.

Bbuddah Hoga tera Baap suffers from a flaccid storyline and a stupid title. The director has squandered a great opportunity to exploit Amitabhs talents. He convinced him to sing, dance and fight but could not deliver on the premise. If the movie engages you it is only because of the overpowering strength of Amitabhs acting, his grace and charm. He enjoys himself thoroughly and his personality alone saves him from making us cringe at what could have degenerated into stupidity but does not. Watch it to learn how a man becomes a superstar and stays a superstar forever.
