The title of the movie rhymes with Begane Shaadi Mein Abdullah Deewana-a popular number of yester years.
Here Laali( Akshara Haasan)and Laadoo( Vivian Shah)are the two lovers belonging to the middle class.Their dads have disowned them. Why? The dad of Laali( the mysogonist Saurabh Shukla) has stepped into the shoes of Laadoo's dad ( Darshan Jariwala) and vice versa. The other unique feature is that for the first time in a movie a Panditjee has advised a Ranima( Suhasini Mulay of the erstwhile Ram Nagar princely state) to get his grand-son Veer( Gurmeet Chaudhary) married to an impregnated girl for Sukh and Shanti of the Parivar. Is the wish fulfilled? Does the marriage get solemnised? Do the estranged dads reconcile? Go see for yourself.
At first sight the idea of an already impregnated girl being auspicious for a marriage looks repulsive .But as the movie moves forward, the impregnated girl( Who?) does draw empathy .Three other issues draw the viewers attention.
Who has the final say to carry on or abort a child conceived before marriage? Is it the unwed mother or the girl's boy friend ?
Also, how could working women cope with sexual harassment at work place and yet retain their jobs?
The preference for a male child is predominant in our society.Laadoo's father opines that he became a Tata -Ambani when his son got born.He named his son after distributing ladoos.
To me the characterisation of both the dads is egoist ,atleast not based on any principled thought.Laaddoo is disowned because he's a high flier and disrespects him on being a rich guy ( till then).Laali is disowned because she opposes him on being a drunkard and wife beater.
One thing is clear that both Akshara and Vivian are not yet ready to carry a film on their own shoulders. They are better off in side roles.Gurmeet Chaudhary's character remains subdued and submissive throughout.Sanjay Mishra's ( as Kabir) role as the patch up guy is okay.
Just one dance number performed by Kavitta Verma ( as Palak, the choice of Laadoo's adoptive dad) on the marriage eve in the climax is foot tapping .
All in all,LKSMLD is an average entertainer. No more.
