    Every single person in the world does not chase fame and honour and Danny Boyle is a bright example for the same.Slumdog Millionairedirector Danny Boyle has reportedly refused to accept knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II as he prefers an equal citizen status rather than being a celebrity. Last year the Oscar winning director was nominated for the honour for directing the showIsles of Wonderat the 2012 London Olympic Games opening ceremony, as reported by Contactmusic. Thereafter in December 2012, the 56-year-old initially hinted about rejecting the honour in an interview with a radio channel.

    He spoke in refusal, "People fought many battles to make everybody free, equal citizens. I have no reason to believe that being a preferred subject would have any value that could improve the pride I feel in being an equal citizen." He added, "I'm lucky because I've made money and people like the work I've done but it doesn't make me feel I'm better than anyone.” He went on, "You've got to be careful because it sounds like you're criticising other people who have accepted knighthoods, which I'm not doing at all. It's a very personal choice."

    He has joined the club of celebrities like John Lennon who rejected the honour in 1969 andEmpire of the Sunauthor and legendary director Alfred Hitchcock who did the same in 1962, but he went on to accept the knighthood in 1979. Boyle was an Academy Award winner in 2009 in the best director category for his India-based movieSlumdog Millionaire.
