Salman Khan’s hit-and-run case hearing postponed till April 8

One more relief forDabanggSalman Khan asthe Mumbai Sessions court has reportedly postponed the hearing into the 2002 hit and run case to April 8.The Bollywood superstar didn’t show up at the court for the hearing as he didn’t receive the summons, according to reports. It was believed that this time he would appear in the court physically as he returned from his medical trip to USA on Saturday night.

The Sessions court was about to hear the case for the first time as a Magistrate transferred the case to the court by convicting the actor with serious charges ofculpable homicide not amounting to murder. Earlier on March 11, Salman was not present at the court in person as the case was not assigned to any judge at that point of time. It was also reported by certain sources that the trial would start afresh with new evidences as the older ones would not be considered any more.

It was the unlucky day on September 28, 2002 when Salman’s Land Cruiser ran over pavement dwellers in suburban Bandra, killing one and injuring four persons. On March 08, 2013, advocate Ashok Mundargi, Salman’s lawyer, had urged the Sessions Court to hear the main case against the actor and his appeal against Magistrate’s order invoking the charge of `culpable homicide not amounting to murder’ (Section 304 part II of IPC) simultaneously. Before that Salman was only facing the charge of ‘causing death by negligence’ (Section 304 A of Indian Penal Code), which would attract maximum punishment of two years in jail.
