Geethanjali Malli Vachindi OTT release date: Anjali’s horror comedy likely to stream on this platform

Anjali-starrer Telugu horror comedy Geethanjali Malli Vachindi is all set to have its OTT premiere. According to the latest reports, the Anjali-starrer horror comedy's digital rights have been secured by Amazon Prime and the film will be available for streaming on the OTT platform starting from May 10, 2024. Directed by Shiva Thurlapati, the horror comedy features Anjali, Shakalaka Shankar, Satyam Rajesh and Srinivasa Reddy in pivotal roles. Interestingly, the movie also marked the 50th film in Anjali’s acting career.  

What is Geethanjali Malli Vachindi all about?

 Directed by cinematographer-turned-director Shiva Thurlapati, the horror film is the sequel to Anjali’s 2014 film Geethanjali. The movie revolves around Sreenu, Athreya, and Arudra who receive an offer to produce a film, with Sreenu as the director and Satya as the lead. They start filming at Sangeeth Mahal, a haunted bungalow given by Vishnu. However, when they encounter ghosts, they mistake them for method actors. Eventually, the ghosts disrupt their filming, which prompts the team to confront Vishnu, who reveals his hidden motives. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

Upon the film’s theatrical release, the movie met with severe criticism from audiences and critics who slammed the film for being bland. Unlike its first instalment, which was a blockbuster, the sequel disappointed the audience and ended as a massive failure at the box office.

Anjali’s upcoming projects

Meanwhile, the Tamil actress will be starring in an investigative thriller film titled Eegai which is directed by Ashok Velayutham. She will also be seen in Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai which has Nivin Pauly and Soori playing the lead roles. The film is directed by Ram and was screened earlier at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. While Eegai is currently in its production stage, the release date of Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai is yet to be revealed.
