Star 2024: Release date, trailer, plot, cast, OTT partner and more

Kavin-starrer Star is all set to hit the big screens on May 10. The upcoming movie is directed by Elan of Pyaar Prema Kadhal-fame. Billed as a romantic drama, the upcoming film revolves around an aspiring actor and narrates the journey of the rise and struggles of a movie star. The film has been given a clean U certificate by the Censor Board and has a runtime of two hours and 38 minutes.

Trailer of Star

The trailer of Star begins with Lal, who plays the protagonist’s father, dressing up his son as the Tamil poet Bharathiyar, but without his iconic moustache. He is then seen telling his son that a good actor can convince the audience to forget anything, and that he should be able to convince the audience with his acting in such a way that the audience do not notice his appearance. The trailer then showcases a montage of Kavin as an aspiring actor as he tries to make it big. The Star trailer showcases the struggles of making it big in the world of cinema as the protagonist copes with failures in both his professional and personal lives.

Plot of Star

The film starring Kavin revolves around his character, Kalai. Kalai has always dreamed of becoming a movie star, but life presents him with many challenges, making his path to success much more difficult. The story follows how he navigates these obstacles to achieve his dream. Lal plays Kavin's father in the film, while Aaditi Pohankar and Preity Mukhundhan play Kavin's love interests.

Cast and Crew of Star

Besides Kavin, the movie stars Lal, Geetha Kailasam, Aaditi S. Pohankar, and Preity Mukhundhan, among others. On the technical side, the film features music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with Ezhil Arasu K as the cinematographer. Vinoth Raj Kumar N is the art director, and Pradeep E. Ragav handled the editing.

OTT partner of Star

The digital rights of Kavin’s Star has been purchased by Amazon Prime Video, and will be available for streaming on the OTT platform post its theatrical release.

Budget of Star

According to reports, the Elan directorial drama is made on a budget of Rs 12 crore.
