Anubhav Sinha: Gulaab Gang, a commercial potboiler

Producer Anubhav Sinha is 100 percent sure about the success of his upcoming project ‘Gulaab Gang’ and says it a commercial potboiler. Sinha remarks that the flick starring industries’ all time favourites Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla, is not a risky proposition as the budget of the same was very low, “I do not see it as a women-centric film. I liked the story and found it a commercial potboiler. I was not sceptical to back it as the cost of production was not that big. I did not think it as a risky proposition.”

Both the actresses are professionals and it was not difficult for the producer to get them on board, however Juhi was earlier uncertain about doing a negative character, “It was not difficult to bring them on board. I was apprehensive how the film would be shot. But we are happy it has exactly turned out the way we had expected. She (Juhi) playing a villain… A negative role was something unexpected. Juhi first asked us to mellow down certain things. We did it but she realised that there was no point in doing that as that is the main essence of the film.”Gulaab Gang directed by Soumik Sen centres the struggle of women in the country. Madhuri forms a union to fight against the ills of the society. The flick is co-financed by Alumbra Entertainment and Abhinay Deo. Sahara Movie Studios will distribute the venture releasing on March 7.
