If there is some research about the words that are most frequently used on social media -- and I'm sure there is -- the word 'feminism' must be up there. And it's not just the social media, the idea of feminism is being dissected, debated and discussed nearly everywhere in our country. And our film industries -- whether it is through the content of the film or the stance of the actors who star in them -- have begun to tackle this important issue. 

And while all of this talk of empowerment is absolutely essential, there can be no progress if there is no action--individual and collective. But action takes time; or, at least, the effect of actions take a while to show. And this fact can be both demoralising to many.

So, in the meantime, we need examples that can encourage us to keep the push for true equality alive. And for today's inspiration, we look towards the excellence in cinema and the women who made it happen.
