Catholics demand deletion of objectionable scenes from Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal
Creating troubles for the makers ofKamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, Catholic groups have registered a complaint against the film with the Central Board of Film Certification for alleged “disresptful portrayal" of Christians. A delegation of representatives of Catholic groups and a priest representing the Archdiocese of Bombay submitted a memorandum to the CBFC chairperson Leela Samson on Saturday demanding a special screening of the Priyadarshan’s directorial venture for them before its release.
They have also demanded deletion of objectionable scenes based on a review by the Catholic community representatives. According to reports, copies of the memorandum have also been sent to Information & Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and censor board CEO Pankaja Thakur. "We have registered our protest against the movie. We have demanded a special screening of the movie urgently and deletion of objectionable scenes based on a review by the Catholic community representatives," Judith Monteiro, secretary of Association of Concerned Catholics (AOCC), said. Monteiro listed out some of the objectionable scenes, like a scene where a Catholic priest (Asrani) is dancing with a rosary around his neck and wearing a garland of lottery tickets with a church in the background and a scene where a priest is shown with a bouquet of flowers with an 'I Love You' message.
