CBFC’s Chronicles Just Keep Getting Better, This Time It’s A Hanuman Chalisa Connection!

The Central Board of Film Certification has a starvation towards attention it seems! The Sanskari board just cannot do without controversy. But while controversies normally would have two sides of the view, the board however only aims at making a mockery of itself. The latest in addition to have made a guest appearance in the latest censor board chronicle is Anushka Sharma and her freshly released film Phillauri.

Yes, the board once again was caught in a sanskari act of appeasing the ‘oh so worship hungry Lord Hanuman’ who is reported to have sent his appreciation letter to CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani by now. Yes, the situation in question is a comic sequence in the trailer where Sooraj Sharma (one of the lead in the film) is dazed to have found a spirit (Anushka Sharma) in his room and runs fearing for his life. In obvious circumstances he starts chanting Hanuman Chalisa hoping the Bhoot would shrug off but it instead starts talking even more comfortably. So how could Mr. Pahlaj led CBFC see our very own mythological superhero get insulted? Hence they chose to mute the complete audio where Karan aka Sooraj is chanting Hanuman Chalisa.

The kind of fear that progressive Indian audiences right now have on their minds is a pretty somber one. For most of you all who probably wonder what Mr. Nihalani makes of his Sanskari image, sources say the CBFC chief takes immense pride even in the jokes people crack on him so long as they’re hailing him as Sanskari.

Well while we continue to compromises with our cinema viewing tastes, we have kind of adjusted with the entertainment CBFC has provided us.
