Chetan Bhagat responds to being accused as a sell-out

Chetan Bhagat, a renowned author and a screenwriter, has been accused of being a sell-out, as he has taken a giant leap in terms of becoming a judge on a dance reality show, Nach Baliye 7. The author has recently cut short a family vacation in London, to meet his prior commitment of the show. He accepted that the show has helped in getting his books to be picked by those who either have not read any of his books, or may not have read any books at all.

Chetan was condemned a lot on taking this decision. He agreed that he took the ‘leap of faith’ to improve his ‘accessibiltiy and readership’. “I'd expected the Twitterati to react this way. What I hadn't anticipated was the volume of reaction. The makers were unfazed, insisting that I bring a fresh take to the proceedings”.

On being criticised for being a ‘sell-out’, he replied, “I've not lent my name to Chetan Bhagat Coaching Classes, right? That would involve no work and loads of money. But you have to draw a line and I'm sensible enough to know where”. As his position of a judge on a dance reality show is ambiguous, he answered, “"I've been associated with films and between a movie star (Preity Zinta) and a choreographer (Marzi), I can offer an objective view”.
