‘Complete collapse of communication’ led Rekha to opt out of Fitoor

As per an undisclosed source from the film, the reason why Rekha opted out of Abhishek Kapoor’s Fitoor was a “complete collapse of communication”. Recently, it was revealed that after shoot of the film wrapped, Rekha opted out of the project and the veteran actress was replaced by Tabu, thereafter. Previously, it was said the actress was unhappy with some of the shots and requested the director to re-shoot them.

 “It’s not because Rekha didn’t like the way she looked. That’s bullshit. No, the reason for her abrupt departure is something else”, told a source to DNA. “They just couldn’t see eye-to-eye on how Rekha’s character was to be interpreted. Gattu had one image in mind, Rekha had another. They were working at cross-purposes. Neither party was happy with the end results”, told another source from the production.

“Replacing Rekha was a hard creative decision. Luckily, Tabu had not taken up anything after Haider. And she was familiar with the Kashmiri milieu after doing the film. She fit right in”, added the source.
