Court asks Pakistan Government To Take Over Dilip Kumar’s Property

Pakistan government has been asked by a court if they are still interested in selling off what is claimed to be Dilip Kumar’s ancestral property and turn it into a national heritage. The order has been issued in respect to the petition that has been filed by Haji Lal Mohammad Khan seeking order to de-notify the purchase of the residence. Khan’s lawyer has challenged the significance of the property and has claimed that misinformation has been attached to the house.

It was being said that the property was an ancestral property of the veteran actor and that he has spent his childhood there. However, as per the petitioner, the property was bought by Dilip Kumar’s father in 1943. This goes in contradiction to the facts as Dilip was born in the year 1922. In addition to that, the house was resold in mere three days. Hence the petitioner claims that the property should not be called Dilip Kumar's ancestral property.

“The house was initially in the ownership of Ghulam Mohiyuddin who transferred it on January 26, 1943, to Ghulam Sarwar, father of Dilip Kumar (Yousaf Khan), the Indian film star”, said the petitioner. In 2012 the provincial government has issued the notice to acquire the property. The petitioner, then, had turned down the offer.
