Karan Johar Acquired Rights To ‘Sairat’?

‘Sairat’ was the first Marathi film to cross Rs. 100 crore in earnings. The movie was a tragic love story starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar. Now, reports have stated that director-producer Karan Johar has bought the rights for a Hindi remake.

After its release, the Marathi film got a lot of appreciation from Bollywood and since then, producers have been trying to acquire the rights. Looks like Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions was successful in the same. The original was produced by Zee, who will also be producing the remake along with Karan.

The storyline is being reworked to cater to the Hindi audiences. If rumours are to be believed, the shooting for the flick will start next year. As expected, there will be a fresh cast for the remake as well. Karan Johar’s most recent project was ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma.
