Kareena signs a women-centric comedy

After having worked in a lot of male dominated movies, Kareena Kapoor Khan has now signed a women oriented comedy to be directed by Raanjhanaa director Anand L. Rai. The actress who last appeared in Rohit Shetty’s action drama Singham Returns is on her way to resume the comic genre she hasn’t really explored.

According to sources, Kareena pretty much liked the script of the film that Anand offered her and immediately said yes. The filming for the same will most likely begin in the early part of 2015, while no other actor has been confirmed as of yet. A source close to the shape up revealed, “Kareena is the hero of the film. The film doesn’t have a very serious subject. It’s a woman-oriented ­light hearted comedy with an intriguing storyline. It will also star several other good supporting actors, which is something that’s always seen in all of Anand’s films.” After Kangana in Queen, Rani in Mardaani and Priyanka in Mary Kom, it was perhaps time for Mrs. Chote Nawab to do a women oriented film. The film she has signed is a small town story about a girl based in Lucknow. The source also revealed that Kareena had no hurry to give her consent and things happened on their own. “Kareena has been ­getting many offers and over the last few months, there have been several reports of films that she has supposedly signed, rejected, or those that have been stalled. But she has been in no hurry to take up projects as she is content with what she has on her plate right now”, he added.

Bebo hasn’t really done a lot of comedies in her career barring a few like Golmaal series, 3 Idiots, Hulchul etc. She is currently shooting for Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan along with Salman Khan in Delhi. The film is scheduled to be an Eid release next year.
