Naseeruddin Shah Feels Race To Enter Rs. 100 Crore Club Has Blinded Filmmakers

Naseeruddin Shah has delivered exceptional performances in his career of over 40 years. Just one when thinks that he can’t get any better, he proves them wrong with another flattering performance. The 66-year-old actor, who won the accolades of the critics with his last offering ‘Waiting’, feels that the race to enter the Rs. 100 crore club has poisoned the sense of filmmaking.

During a recent interview, the Ishqiya actor said, "This Rs 100 crore club has poisoned our filmmaking sensibility. It is as if we are finally admitting the real reason why we make movies... It is important that content-based movies must be made economically".

He added that though the number of content based films has increased, the number of senseless movies has also increased proportionally. He also laid stress on the importance of development of regional cinema. The actor lauded "A Wednesday" co-actor Jimmy Sheirgill for his efforts in reviving the Punjabi cinema.
