Riteish Deshmukh gets emotional on father’s 70th birthday

Riteish Deshmukh, who lost his father to multi-organ failure, got nostalgic on his 70^th birthday. He paid tribute to his father in a series of tweets. In one of them, he wrote, “An inspiration for the people, of the people, by the people. Remembering my father today on his #70thBirthAnniversary”.

The Housefull actor also wrote that he aspires to be a father like him. “Happy Birthday PAPPA : the father that you were to me, is what I aspire to be to my son”, he tweeted. To which, his wife Genelia D'Souza replied on Twitter, writing, “I can guarantee Pappa would be very proud of the father you are to your son”. He also posted a picture of Riaan paying respect to his grandfather. In another tweet he wrote, “Vilasrao Deshmukh: The only Sarpanch to ever become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra”.

Previously, when Riteish received the National  Award for his production 'Yellow', he dedicated it to his father and said, “My first National Award. He would have been proud and said with a smile, 'Well done beta”. The two time Chief Minister of Maharashtra, suffered critical liver and kidney failure. He passed away on 14 August 2012 at Global Hospitals of Chennai due to multi-organ failure.
