Saif Ali Khan Opens Up About His Son’s Name Taimur Ali Khan!

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s pregnancy was the most talked about thing until she delivered her first born on December 20 last year. The way she carried herself during her maternity period is worth commending and was confident enough to make an appearance every time with a baby bump. However, soon after she delivered a baby boy, she landed herself into a new controversy.

Soon after Kareena gave birth to her little bundle of joy, Saif Ali Khan announced the news on twitter and also revealed his name - Taimur Ali Khan. The name made twitteratis crazy and linked the name with Turkish ruler Timur who had killed thousands in his wake.  In a recent interview with a journal, Saif opened up about the matter.

He said, "Perhaps, I should have added a disclaimer, as they do in the movies, that any resemblance to any person, living or dead, is purely coincidental. I'm aware of the heritage of the Turkish ruler and my son was not named after him. He was Timur, my son is Taimur. Perhaps the root is similar but it's not the same name. Taimur is an ancient Persian name meaning iron. Both my wife and I liked its sound and the meaning. In fact, of all the names I ran by Kareena, she liked this one the best because it's beautiful and strong. It's an old family name like Sara who was also named after a cousin I admired".

The actor further added that his son will be like him and will be international ambassador for his heritage and counter Islamaphobia. He also said that Taimur will be a liberal, balanced, open-minded guy.
