She said, "I’ve bought the rights to the book with my own money. My father will produce it, but I have spent a lot of money.” The novel revolves around two love-struck aspiring politicians who are contesting against each other in the elections. Sonam said further, "It was supposed to be made with me on two occasions in the past, but for some strange reason, that never happened. Whoever planned to make the film wanted to cast me in it, but the film never took off. So I thought, ‘As no one is making the film and it’s such a nice story, let me buy the rights.’ So now, we are making the film and it’s a lovely story.” The male lead for the film has not been finalised yet, though names like Imran Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sidharth Malhotra are doing the rounds. The film is set to undergo production from September/October this year as soon as Sonam is done with shooting for Arbaaz Khan’s next production venture and Sooraj Bajratya’s film with Salman Khan.
