Sultan Becomes Highest Ever ‘Eid’ Opener, Here’s How Much The Film Has Opened To

So the Eid confusion that resulted in half of India celebrating the festival on 7th has affected Sultan’s opening prospects to a certain extent. While the film had become a huge contender to beat all previous opening day records, the Yashraj production couldn’t touch the 40 crore mark, but still broke a lot of records it was expected to.

The Salman Khan starrer has garnered a total of 36.54 crores on its opening day which makes it the highest opener ever on Eid. While the film was expected to fetch well over 40 crores, the potential business got divided as it is expected to perform equally well today. However, the film has still opened to a thunderous start and is looking solid to put very strong total in its opening weekend.

Here’s is where Sultan has broken into the list of top 5 all-time highest openers:

    1 - Happy New Year (44 Crores)

2 – Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (40 Crores)

    3 – Sultan (36.54 Crores)

    4 – Dhoom 3 (36 Crores)

    5 – Chennai Express (33.10 Crores)

With these numbers that suggest a very promising start for Sultan, it has to be taken under consideration that both Happy New Year and PRDP had opened on the coveted Diwali off.

Talking about the all-time highest openers on Eid, this is where Sultan is:

    1 – Sultan (36.54 Crores)

    2 – Chennai Express (33.10 Crores)

    3 – Ek Tha Tiger (32.90 Crores)

    4 – Bajrangi Bhaijaan (27 Crores)

    5 – Kick (26 Crores)

While the film of course has emerged as the biggest film to have opened on Eid, it still couldn’t become the biggest Salman Khan opener ever as it found itself chasing PRDP that had earned more than 40 crores on its opening day.

With so much in its favor and a prosperous box office weekend lying ahead, Sultan should be looking at the 150 crore mark in its 5 day opening weekend. Let’s watch this space for more.
