The latest development generates more interest as Paramount and Pitt just roped in Juan Antonio Bayona as the director of World War Z’s sequel. Last year Paramount and Plan B have gone through some tough times after the complications during World War Z shoot but those differences seemed to be sorted out as World War Z grossed more than $540 million at the international box office. In October reports were doing rounds that Paramount executives felt they were not given a chance to plan something for Plan B’s 12 Years a Slave and the project eventually went to New Regency and Fox Searchlight afterwards. An insider clarified that the end of the relationship between Paramount and Plan B has a little to do with their differences, rather Plan B found New Regency as a more suitable partner for them. Pitt’s company issued a statement saying, “There are very few partners in this business who are able to balance artistic integrity with commercial viability.” “Working hand in hand with New Regency andRatPac, we feel we have found the perfect fit,” the statement added.
