When ‘The Diary of a Teenage Girl’ was screened at Sundance Film Festival, it moved many critics. The film, now, has an official trailer. Starring Bel Powley, the adaptation of book of same name, is a story about how a teenage girl loses her virginity to her mother’s boyfriend and how things change for her thereafter.

In the trailer, the British actress has a young and no make-up look. She seems extremely excited after loosing virginity and turning into an adult. To her, life looks completely different than it did before. The only complication is that she has slept with her mother’s boyfriend. Subsequently, she is consumed by the thoughts of sex and further explores the fascinating world of sex.

“Because I was trying to portray something real, and I wasn’t trying to be beautiful or sexy, there was less pressure on me”, shared Powley with EW. The film also features Kristen Wiig in the character of her mother and Alexander Skarsgård as their shared love partner. The Marielle Heller directorial is all set to hit the theatres on August 7. In an interview with Sundance, the first time director said, “We’re not trying to pass judgment on this relationship or this girl or what she’s going through. We’re just trying to show honestly what it feels like to be a teenage girl”.
