    The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Tops Weekend Box Office

    Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 has come out on top of the weekend box office grossing $101 million on its opening weekend. This includes the $16 million from the previews. The movie saw an opening of $46 million which is the lowest compared to the other parts of the franchise.

    Being the first weekend, the movie might just shift gears and sore high. The 24th Bond film Spectre which is running on its third weekend was recently released in India. The movie grossed $14 million at the U.S. weekend box office sending its worldwide earnings to $677 million. The Peanuts Movie still maintains a spot on the top five list coming in at third with $12 million. The animated movie has now pooled in $108 million worldwide.

    The Seth Rogan, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Anthony Mackie starrer The Night Before opened with a $10 million weekend. The movie claims the fourth spot which is followed by the $6.6 million pooled in by The Secret in their Eyes. Running on first weekend, The Secret in their Eyes has been written and directed by Billy Ray.
