Variety has confirmed that ‘Key and Peele’ stars Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele will be ending their comedy run with the current season. The sketch comedy series started in 2012 and has seen four seasons, with the fifth currently running. The show airs on Comedy Central and provides a satirical and funny perspective of various situations.

According to the Wrap, Keegan said, “This is our final season – and it’s not because of Comedy Central, it’s us. It was just time for us to explore other things, together and apart. I compare it to Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. We might make a movie and then do our own thing for three years and then come back and do another movie”. He added, “There will be Key and Peele productions coming up. We’re doing the reboot of ‘Police Academy,’ and there’s a TV show in the works that me might do for Comedy Central. There’s lots of stuff we have cooking up”.

This year, the show racked up seven Emmy nominations including, Outstanding Variety Sketch Series and an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series nod for Keegan. Paramount has decided to take their sketch ‘Substitute Teacher’ to the next level and are developing a show titled the same. In the show, Jordan Peele will be returning as Mr. Garvey, an uptight high school teacher, and Keegan will be playing a rival teacher trying to gain the affection of the students.
