Williams played the role of a struggling actor in Mrs. Doubtfire who was also the single father of three after going through a divorce. In order to nurture his kids properly and come closer to them he becomes a Scottish nanny, Euphegenia Doubtfire. The film was full of fun, hilarious moments, misunderstanding and victory of family bonding, at last. It collected $219 million domestically and $222 million internationally. Williams was honoured with a Golden Globe being the best actor in a musical/comedy category while the movie also won the Golden Globe for the best comedy/musical.
The sequel is in making since 2001 when Bonnie Hunt was hired to write the script for the same. But the project could never make it to its production stage and died slowly. The project was revived early this year when Berenbaum decided to involve himself. Though it’s pretty early to forecast anything about the sequel’s final destiny, let’s stay hopeful that we can watch Williams and Columbus recreate their magic together once again. Presently Columbus is working on his project, Pixels, which is in its pre-production stage. Williams is awaiting his upcoming May 23 release The Angriest Man in Brooklyn.
