A PG-13 rated thriller featuring Sanaa Lathan and Michael Ealy topped the North American box office. The lazy thriller banked a surprisingly high $26.7 million. The actual cost that was involved in producing this was only $12 million. It was reportedly being said that the female audiences helped ‘The Perfect Guy’ to secure the first place spot.

‘The Visit’, a horror film, grabbed the second position with a sale of about $25.7 million in tickets. According to Rentrak, it was a close second. The total cost involved in making and distributing the film was $5 million. The horror movie, written, directed and produced by Mr. Shyamalan, also did better than what was anticipated by the analysts.

"We're not breaking any records, but this is the perfect weekend for these films," said Paul Dergarabedian, the Senior Media Analyst for Rentrak. "Studios are finding a land of opportunity in weekends that were heretofore 'slow weekends' at the box office and proving that audiences are always looking for new content".
