    Sam Taylor-Johnson locked to direct Fifty Shades of Grey

    Finally, the speculations about the much awaited movie Fifty Shades of Grey have ended.DirectorSam Taylor-Johnson, who made her directorial debut withNowhere Boy,has been finalized to direct this venture. The film will be an adaptation of the best-selling book with the same name written by E.L. James.

    The movie tags on a relationship between 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey and a college student Anastasia Steele. Sam is a surprise choice as the buzz names for directing the same were Gus Van Sant, Susanne Bier and Joe Wright. Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are producing this flick along with the book writer James. De Luca commented, “Sam’s unique ability to gracefully showcase complex relationships dealing with love, emotion and sexual chemistry make her the ideal director to bring Christian and Anastasia’s relationship to life. EL James’ characters and vivid storytelling require a director who is willing to take risks and push the envelope where needed, and Sam is a natural fit.”

    Director Sam has previously worked on a small film likeLove You More, which headed toCannes in 2008. Together with De Luca, she is to make a film based on the novelA Reliable Wife byRobert Goorlick. Before getting into direction, Taylor was a known photographer as well as a visual artist. Universal Pictures and Focus Features have acquired market and distribute rights. James’ trio book pack has been translated in 45 languages with 70 million copies sold till date as e-book or in printed format. Other developments about the film have not been disclosed yet. Let’s hope for the best for the movie so as to create the same hysteria that the book generated.
