Spring Breakers 2 in development, Irvine Welsh to draft script

2012 comedy-drama flick Spring Breakers captivated audience and now Spun’s helmer Jonus Akerlund will again don director’s hat for the sequel of Spring Breakers, Spring Breakers 2. The film will surely be a sequel but not a direct sequel as commented by producer Vincent Maraval, "It's not a direct sequel although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original."

Irvine Welsh is roped in to pen the script of the same. The cast is not decided yet but as per Maraval, it would be a mix of old and new cast members. Other updates are yet to come. The original directed by Harmony Korine, starred James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine and Gucci Mane in main characters. It drew light on the controversial youthful rebellion.
