Straight Outta Compton Top of Box Office

Universal’s Straight Outta Compton starring O'Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell and Neil Brown Jr. dominates the weekend box office with $56.1 million. It was predicted that the movie would make around $40 million. On Friday, Straight Outta Compton grossed $24.2 million which helped it in reaching the top spot.

On its third weekend, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation made $17 million which gave it the second spot. The fifth instalment in the series has made $373 million worldwide. Following the spy movie was another spy movie by Guy Ritchie – The Man from U.N.C.L.E. starring Henry Cavill which made around $13 million. With a budget of $75 million, the earnings were a bit under what was expected.

Fantastic Four claimed the fourth spot with its $8 million on the second weekend. On its opening weekend it made around $25.7 million. Crawling to the fifth spot was Joel Edgerton’s The Gift. It made an estimated $6.5 million. Overall the movie has made $23.6 million and was made with a comparatively small budget of $5 million.
