    Universal Moved Pitch Perfect 3 Release To December 2017

    Fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Pitch Perfect 3. Universal announced on Tuesday that they are pushing back the release of Pitch Perfect 3, starring Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson from July 21, 2017,  to December 22, 2017. Kay Cannon is set to pen the script for the flick which will once again be helmed by Elizabeth Banks.

    The original film, based on Mickey Rapkin's book "Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory," grossed $113 million worldwide in 2012, while its sequel, “Pitch Perfect 2" more than doubled that, grossing $286 million worldwide to date. The cast of the flick is not yet closed, as only Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Hailee Steinfeld have confirmed that they will be returning.

    Universal is also pushing Girl Trip's release date, which now opens on July 21, 2017, to Pitch Perfect 3's old date. The movie, produced by Will Packer and directed by Malcom D. Lee, was originally set to open Aug. 11, 2017. Girl Trip centers on four lifelong friends who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival.
