Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine to emerge as a huge blockbuster worldwide
Aftergrossing $4.3 million over the weekend, Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine is highly speculated to becomethe highest-grossing independent release of the year.Sony Pictures Classics expanded the release to 1,283 theatres in its fifth weekend.
It has been the widest release for any Allen film ever and the domestic total has been estimated as $14.8 million so far. Midnight in Paris, remains Woody Allen's biggest hit, which made $151 million worldwide. In Blue Jasmine, Cate Blanchett has played the role of the wife of a Bernie Madoff-type burglar. Blanchett's portrayal of her character of a wife in a senile Manhattan society has drawn the audience’s attention at the most. Cate’s character loses everything and shifts with her sister when her husband is imprisoned. Cate co-stars the likes of Alec Baldwin, Andrew Dice Clay, Sally Hawkins, Louis C.K., Tammy Blanchard and Bobby Cannavale.
