Why Do All Prakash Jha Movies Look The Same?

Why Do All Prakash Jha Movies Look The Same?

Prakash Jha has done some praise worthy films and National Award winning documentaries in his career. From ground breaking documentaries like Kudiattam, Looking Back, Faces After The Storm to intelligent cinema like Damul, Mrityudand, Gangaajal and Raajneeti – the man is a risk taker!

But lately, all the movies he's been making have started looking very similar to each other. After watching the promos of Satyagraha, the movie looked strangely familiar to us.

    1. It’s pretty easy to see the similarities between the posters of Satyagraha, Chakravyuh, Aarakshan and Raajneeti

    2. Every director has a muse - Martin Scorsese has Leonardo DiCaprio, Karan Johar has Shah Rukh Khan and Prakash Jha has Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpai, Arjun Rampal and Ajay Devgn. Sorry, he has muses who have been playing very similar characters in his last few films!

    3. Even the songs in his films have become repetitive!

Prakash Jha once broached radical topics like social & gender injustice in small towns, true incidents like the Bhagalpur blindings and highly politically charged documentaries on Bihar Sharif riots. He had a voice unlike any other filmmaker in the industry which has toned down in a bid to look more commercial.

His latest political thriller, Satyagraha, is releasing this Friday. With speculations and consequent denial that the film is about Anna Hazare and Aam Admi Party, this films aims to rouse our “pro-janta” sentiments. We’re still eager to watch this movie in the hope that Jha will return to his roots and be the revolutionary filmmaker he was!
