Nishant Talks About His Debut Film Antony

Nishant is all set to make his acting debut in Kollywood with the musical emotional thriller Antony. The film directed by debutant Kuttii Kumar will see Nishant playing the role of a cop. The actor says that he is very excited about his maiden film which is loaded with action and intense drama.

"I play a sub inspector in Antony. But, I was more anxious about playing veteran Malayalam director and actor Lal's son. I heard that many people had auditioned for the role and I was quite nervous. But, Lal Sir was quite friendly and was all praise for my work. I learnt a lot from him pertaining to acting and was stunned by his conviction towards the character. The chemistry between the father and son is crackling in the film. Veteran actress Rekha plays my mother. We bonded like a house on fire on the sets. She took good care of me as well," said Nishant.

Nishant’s character Antony is named after the late actor Raghuvaran who played the same character in the movie Baasha. Talking about his role, Nishant said, "In fact, the movie itself is a tribute to the actor. Raghuvaran Sir would switch from one emotion to another with ease and would show a gamut of expressions in a short span of time. Just like him, I too have tried to bring out variations in my character. I told the film's director Kuttii Kumar that I would train and perform for him first. If he was convinced, we would go ahead. Fortunately, he liked what I did and we went ahead with the shoot. I also prepped well for my role as a cop with fitness and mind exercises. The film has been predominantly shot in Kodaikanal.”

The film which stars newcomer Vaishali as the female lead is expected to release in January.
