Ambati Rayudu has once again targeted the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise, this time following the Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Final. KKR triumphed over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to claim the title.

In his congratulatory message to KKR, Rayudu couldn't resist taking a fresh jab at Virat Kohli and RCB. Speaking to Star Sports, Rayudu emphasized the importance of collective team effort and asserted that individual achievements like winning the Orange Cap do not ensure IPL titles.

Interestingly, Virat Kohli won the Orange Cap in IPL 2024 with 741 runs in 15 innings at an average of 61.75. He smashed one century and five 50s with a strike rate of over 154. This was Kohli's second Orange Cap, the first being in 2016 when he scored a record 973 runs. In contrast, KKR had four players scoring over 350 runs each, with opener Sunil Narine leading the team with 488 runs in 15 games. Phil Salt scored 435 runs, Venkatesh Iyer accumulated 370, and captain Shreyas Iyer added 354 runs.

"Congratulations to the KKR team for really standing up for stalwarts like Narine, Russell, and Starc and also contributing their share in the team's win. That’s how a team wins the IPL. We have seen this over the years. It’s not the Orange Cap that wins you the IPL but it is the contributions like 300 runs each (of many players)," Rayudu said while talking to Star Sports.

These remarks came after RCB defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their final league game, knocking them out of Playoff contention. Rayudu then posted a video of CSK's five trophies on his Instagram after RCB lost in the Playoff against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

After the dig, he went on to say on X (formerly known as Twitter), "My heart truly goes out to all the rcb supporters who have passionately supported the team over the years. If only the management and the leaders had the teams interests ahead of individual milestones .. rcb would have won multiple titles. Just remember how many fantastic players have been let go off. Force your management to bring players who will put teams interests first. A great new chapter can start from the mega auction".

RCB made a historic leap from the 10th spot to the Playoffs with a remarkable six-match winning streak. However, despite this impressive run, they were unable to maintain their momentum and secure their first IPL trophy.
