After enduring a string of losses in the Indian Premier League (IPL), this game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) holds significant importance for the Gujarat Titans (GT). In Match 59 of the IPL 2024, captain Shubman Gill led from the front alongside a new opening partner, Sai Sudharsan, to give their side the perfect start.

Within 17 overs, GT has amassed 200 runs on the board, with both Gill and Sudharsan reaching their respective centuries. While Gill has scored 100 off 50 balls, Sai Sudharsan has smashed his ton in 50 balls. Both achieved their 100s with boundaries.

As for CSK, their bowlers after searching for a wicket, finally got the breakthrough and broke the 210-run partnership by sending back the dangerous Sai Sudharsan for 103 off 51 [4s-5 and 6s-7] at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Soon after, in the same over, Gill too departed for 104 off 55 balls [4s-9 6s-6]. Both wickets were taken by Tushar Deshpande.

GT, who are at the bottom of the points table standings, below the already eliminated teams such as Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), still find themselves alive by the barest of margins.

However, a win over Titans would take CSK to 14 points and into third place, ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Net Run Rate.
