Anya Taylor-Joy delights fans with confirmation of role in Dune: Part Two at London premiere

    Anya Taylor-Joy surprised attendees with her appearance at the London premiere of Dune: Part Two on Thursday. Dressed in a bridal-inspired cream-colored outfit with a veil-like head wrap, her striking presence on the red carpet has fans speculating about her role in the sequel.

    Taylor-Joy, aged 27, stars in the sequel to Denis Villeneuve's 2021 adaptation of Frank Herbert's 1965 novel, which also featured Timothée Chalamet. During an interview on the red carpet aired by Warner Bros. U.K., Taylor-Joy mentioned, "You’ll have to see the film," but affirmed her involvement in it.

    Actress Glows with Admiration

    Reflecting on the movie, the actress lauded director Denis Villeneuve for his phenomenal work, expressing her delight at the opportunity to collaborate with him and the incredible ensemble cast "The books are incredible but with this cast and with Denis, it doesn’t get any better than that".

    Joining Taylor-Joy in the new movie are Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, Austin Butler, and Léa Seydoux. Returning from the 2021 film are Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.

    Sci-Fi Glamour Takes Center Stage at London Premiere

    Many of the film’s stars posed for photos at the London premiere, dressed in the most exquisite sci-fi-inspired fashions. Regarding the sequel, Villeneuve mentioned to the Los Angeles Times in 2021 that certain roles, such as Zendaya’s desert warrior Chani, would receive further development in his second installment. He assured that some characters would be less developed initially, with plans to expand on them in the subsequent film as a means of achieving balance.

    Taylor-Joy Transforms into Furiosa

    One of Taylor-Joy’s upcoming projects is the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, set to hit theaters on May 24. In this film, the Emmy nominee takes on the role of the eponymous Imperator, succeeding Charlize Theron.

    The trailer for Furiosa teased additional post-apocalyptic action from director George Miller. During a 2022 interview with IndieWire, Taylor-Joy humorously remarked that her role in Furiosa involved the dirtiest and bloodiest experience she had encountered on film yet.

    Dune: Part Two hits theaters on March 1, while Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is set to premiere on May 24, 2024.
