Grant continued by drawing a parallel between her own creative realm and that of Reeves. She utilized a metaphor to articulate this comparison, referencing their past collaboration on the 2011 book, Ode to Happiness.

The Bonding Power of Creative Expression

Grant was speaking at the Los Angeles Beverly Arts Icon Awards on Friday, "My work is much more of a private performance, but I have a text that I interpret in the studio into a painting, into an object," she explained, adding of her beau "He takes the text in private and then turns it into a performance in public."

"There's a relationship," she continued. "We're both, at the heart, readers and researchers. We both care about people and we care about characters."

A Shared Passion for Storytelling

The duo initially became friends after meeting at a dinner party in 2009. Although romantic feelings did not develop immediately, a fruitful professional relationship began to flourish.

The news of the couple officially dating only broke in November 2019 when they made their first appearance together on the red carpet at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles.
