Karan Johar announces his first action film on 50th birthday; will take it on floors soon after Rocky Aur Rani releases
Ahead of celebrating his 50th birthday with his celebrity friends, filmmaker Karan Johar gave movie lovers a special gift. He announced his first ever action film, which will go on floors next year.

Back in January this year, rumors suggested that soon after completing Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani , filmmaker Karan Johar will begin work on his next directorial, his first ever action film. Much to our delight, on his 50th birthday today, KJo has made the official announcement. His note read: “ Hello all, This is a note of reflection and one of immense excitement! I turn 50 today (a number that seemed like a distant nightmare), while I know it's kind of a mid-point of my life but I can't help my wannabe millenial self from existing. Some call it a mid-life crisis, I proudly call it just 'living life without any apologies'.”
Karan then made the big announcement! He revealed, “The one aspect that I believe I am most passionate about is being a filmmaker! In the past I have always taken long gaps between my films but today on this special day I would like to announce my next directorial feature.... Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahani will release on the 10th of February 2023. And I will commence the shoot of my ACTION FILM in APRIL 2023. Need your blessings and love! And I have to shamelessly sign off by saying JugJugg Jeeyo to all of you.... My love forever, Karan Johar.”
KJo returned to the director’s seat for Ranveer and Alia’s family dramedy six long years after his last directorial, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil . Also starring Dharmendra , Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi , the film’s announcement had left netizens with super high expectations because of KJo’s success rate as a director. Well, our excitement for his first ever action entertainer is even more! We can’t wait to see how it turns out. This truly is the best return gift that he could give the audiences today.
