The looming threat of lockdowns and cinemas getting shutting down again amidst the Omicron scare has once led to the postponement of two major films. After Shahid Kapoor ’s Jersey on which was bound for theatres on New Year’s Eve, S.S. Rajamouli ’s pan-Indian film RRR was put off for a future release despite all efforts to meet the 7 January deadline.

After the delay in RRR’s release rumours of Prabhas and Pooja Hegde ’s Radhe Shyam getting pushed were not far behind. The makers of this period romantic film which is due to arrive on Sankranti, January 14 didn’t make any official announcements about the film’s delay. However, the raising cases of Covid-19 has led people to believe that more rigid restrictions are soon to follow.
An official announcement from the production house UV Creations which is backing Radhe Shyam has now laid all rumours to rest. The statement read, "There is no change in the release plans of Radhe Shyam. The Prabhas-starrer is gearing up to hit the screens on January 14. Don't believe the rumours."

Pooja and Prabhas play start crossed lovers in this love story which is set in 1970’s Europe. The film will see Prabhas essay the role of world renowned palmist who can predict the future of everyone but doesn’t believe he is fated for love. It all changes as he meets Pooja. This love story however has its own challenges to meet.
After action packed films like Bahubali and Saaho which redefined Prabhas’ career and made him a global star, this is the first time fans will see him in softer role. The star will follow up the movie with a second release this year, Adipurush.
The trailer of Radhe Shyam which was released recently has only intensified the buzz surrounding the film. It is being released in five Indian languages, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
