Superstar Rajinikanth took off to Dubai on Thursday from Chennai airport. Videos of Rajinikanth at the airport have surfaced online and are going viral. The exact reason for Rajinikanth's foreign trip is not clear at the moment.

Rajinikanth recently completed shooting his portions for the upcoming movie "Vettaiyan." Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, the film is written and directed by T. J. Gnanavel. Rajinikanth shot for the film for more than 100 days.

"Vettaiyan" is touted to be a cop-action drama. Rajinikanth is said to be playing a top cop and the film is believed to examine the ill effects of police highhandedness. Earlier, actor-producer Rana Daggubati, who is also playing a key role, claimed that "Vettaiyan" will be a unique film in Rajinikanth's career. "Vettaiyan is not like a usual Rajinikanth film. Amazingly, he is doing a film like this. It's a drama that's very interesting; it's about the judiciary, police, and entrepreneurial systems, and it's a well-researched story," Rana revealed earlier.

The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan, and it is expected to hit screens worldwide in October.

Rajinikanth is now set to join the sets of "Coolie." The production of the movie will go on the floors in the first week of June. The filmmakers have claimed that the shoot will continue until early next year and will be filmed across many locations around the world.

In the meantime, director Lokesh Kanagaraj and his friends took a pilgrimage trip to Sabarimala before starting the shoot for "Coolie." Lokesh's frequent collaborator and close confidant Rathna Kumar shared pictures from the pilgrimage trip.

Earlier, the filmmakers revealed a teaser that unveiled Rajinikanth's look from "Coolie." The promo video received mixed reviews but also promised an action entertainer filled with nostalgia.
