Anurag Kashyap ponders over a plan to pay for daughter Aaliyah’s wedding after her engagement announcement

Anurag Kashyap is currently in France for the premiere of his film Kennedy at the Cannes Film Festival 2023. The filmmaker on Sunday took to his social media and shared a funny post about his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap’s wedding expenditure. The post comes after his daughter announced her engagement with boyfriend Shane Gregoire.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Anurag dropped a picture of himself with his friends. He is seen sitting on a couch and looking at his phone. In the caption, he wrote, "@cinemakasam is pissed off saying, ‘yahan to phone chhod do (leave your phone here)!! Unaware that I am calculating the number of remakes I will have to do to throw a wedding soirée, because my dearest @aaliyahkashyap and her beau, my lovely @shanegregoire threw a total curveball at us in the middle of our @festivaldecannes journey of Kennedy by announcing their engagement (face with party horn and party hat emojis)." Soon after actress Sobhita Dhulipala, who worked with him in Raman Raghav, dropped a laughing emoji. Bhumi Pednekar reacted, “congratulations.”

For the unversed, Aaliyah on Saturday got engaged to Shane and shared a heartfelt note on Instagram. "Soooooo this happened!!!!! To my best friend, my partner, my soulmate and now my fiance! You are the love of my life. Thank you for showing me what real & unconditional love feels like. Saying yes to you was the easiest thing I’ve ever done & I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, my love. I love you forever & always Fiancé (still can’t believe I get to call you that AAHHHH),"she wrote.She also posted photos wherein the two can be seen sharing a passionate kiss, and flaunting the ring.On the professional front, Aaliyah is a social media influencer and also create YouTube videos.

Anurag’s film Kennedy stars Sunny Leone, Rahul Bhatt and Abhilash Thapliyal in the lead roles. It is the only Indian film to be selected for a screening at the festival’s midnight screening section this year. Meanwhile, his last directorial was the musical romantic drama Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat, which featured Alaya F and Karan Mehta. Vicky Kaushal also had a special appearance in it.
