Anurag Kashyap opened up about going through a tough phase personally in the past few years. Reveals he's suffered a heart attack, battled depression.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has opened up about his life struggles of the past few years and revealed that he has battled depression, under gone angioplasty and even been admitted into rehab thrice. The filmmaker who is busy promoting his much delayed film Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat which stars Alaya F and Karan Mehta and opened up about braving his way through this dark span in life and continuing work despite the health risks.
Anurag confessed in conversation with Indian Express that he quit Twitter in 2019 following the death and rape threats his daughter Aaliyah had been receiving but found his way back on the platform disturbed by no one speaking up about the anti- CAA protests in Jamia Millia Islamia.
While he confessed that he was battling depression for three years, Anurag also made known in the same interview that he had suffered a heart attack last year and had to undergo angioplasty. The filmmaker, however, added that his deteriorated health didn’t afford him the luxury of sitting back and relaxing.
"I didn't know how to deal with it. Then slowly, I crawled back. I am myself now. But I still went on making films. I made Dobaara. Unlike other people, I don't have the luxury to sit and wait. I don't do massive projects which can sustain my people, my team," Anurag told the publication which bringing attention to his health.
Between 2019 and 2022, Anurag has made two films, Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat and Taapsee Pannu led Dobaaraa which released in cinemas earlier this year. The filmmaker is focused on his work at the moment and is doing much better.
Anurag’s film Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat which has been shot in 2019, will finally release in January 2023 after being screened at the Marrakech Film Festival earlier this month.
