Salman Khan often ensures that his films mark festival releases and leave the audience entertained. While the superstar has been synonymous with Eid releases, he has also enjoyed some of his biggest hits during Diwali as well. As Salman Khan's upcoming film, Tiger 3 is set for Diwali 2023 release, here is a look back at how his films have fared on Diwali over the years:

Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo(2015): Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo was the last offering of Salman Khan to cinema lovers on Diwali. The film turned out to be a huge success, grossing Rs 388 crore approximately across the globe. The film also featured Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Swara Bhasker.

Bodyguard(2011): Salman Khan featured alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan in Bodyguard, which also happened to be Diwali release in 2011. Upon release, the film opened to a phenomenal response at the domestic box office and packed cinema halls. It was declared a hit with a collection of Rs 252.99 crore worldwide.

Main Aurr Mrs Khanna(2009): In 2009, Salman’s film Main Aurr Mrs Khanna faced the box office clash with Akshay Kumar's Blue and Ajay Devgn's All The Best. Directed by debutant Prem Soni, the film has Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sohail Khan in pivotal roles, along with Preity Zinta and Deepika Padukone in brief special appearances. The film failed to make a mark at the box office and merely minted Rs 14.1 crore gross worldwide.

Jaan-e-mann (2006): A musical romance starring Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta couldn’t resonate with the audience. It became another flop on Salman’s Diwali release list. Directed by Shirish Kunder, the film opened in nearly 1,200 screens worldwide but managed to earn only Rs 45.52 crore gross worldwide.

Hum Saath Saath Hain(1999): The family drama, Hum Saath Saath Hain, which holds a special place in cinema lovers’ hearts was also released on Diwali. The film having a talented ensemble cast including Salman Khan, Mohnish Bahl, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Karisma Kapoor, turned out to be a celebration of the festive release. It emerged to be a blockbuster by grossing Rs 69 crore.

Karan Arjun (1995): The 90s hit Karan Arjun opened in theatres on the occasion of Diwali. Featuring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, the film turned out to be an all-time blockbuster, collecting Rs 36.75 crore worldwide. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the film also has Kajol and Mamta Kulkarni in pivotal roles.

Andaz Apna Apna (1994): The comedy drama, Andaz Apna Apna starring Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor was a semi-hit at the box office. Over the years, the film has emerged as a cult film. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film also Paresh Rawal and Shakti Kapoor in key roles.
